Report of Corporal Simmonds

I wish to recommend Pvt. F. COX for the work he did on the 17th March and think he is worthy of the V.C.

When our Batt was held up under heavy shell and Machine Gun fire Cox went forward quite alone and picked up 4 men who were wounded and brought them safely back. Whilst carrying one of the Middlesex on his back the wounded man got shot again but COX kept on, also whilst assisting a Corporal on the stretcher the Corporal got wounded again but COX kept on at his work he also marked where the barbed wire was cut so we could rush through.
