Report of Sgt Nicholson

To the O.C. 'B' Coy.
7th Ser. Bedfordshire Regt.
Sir,
I beg to recommend Pvte. A.E. COX (stretcher Bearer) for conspicuous gallantry in the engagement in which his regiment took part on the 16th March. He continuously carried the wounded into safety under heavy shell fire (in several cases on his back) and at great personal risk thereby undoubtedly saving many lives. Further than this on a mchine gun emplacement being blown up he went and attended to the wounded, brought back the drums which proved of great use to the gunners of other teams.
I cannot speak too highly of the coolness and bravery he displayed throughout the action. It both set an example to all concerned and reflects great credit on Pvte. COX personally and through him to his Company and Regiment.
I remain
Sir,
Yours respectfully
(Sd.) F.S. NICHOLSON, (Sgt.)
